An "in tents" encounter with nature

Sligo Naturalist Allison Gillespie explains why we should not fear these critters.

First stop this spring:
Historic Takoma’s House and Garden Tour

The 35th annual Takoma Park House & Garden Tour on May 4 featured Takoma’s long association with public transit links to downtown Washington DC.

Developer B.F. Gilbert lured federal employees out to the cooler, healthier, sylvan Takoma Park in the 1880s. They could commute by rail for 5 cents each way.

This Tour covered 13 homes and gardens of historic and creative interest in Takoma DC.

The tour is a fundraiser for the renovation of Historic Takoma's headquarters.

Voice photographer Stephanie Williams captured several vignettes from the tour. Click to see a slideshow.
