Takoma Library to host “Writer’s Rock!” on September 26

The Takoma Park Library hopes to lure kids back to the stacks after summer vacation, and will host an event on September 26th with three rock stars from the world of children’s books:  Tami Lewis Brown, Katy Kelly and Uma Krishnaswami.

Lewis Brown, Kelly and Krishnawami – write “middle grade” novels, which are novels aimed at readers ages 8-12, although younger and older readers also might enjoy their books.

All three authors also either live in the DC area, or have ties here. Krishnawami’s new book, “The Grand Plan to Fix Everything,” opens in Takoma Park, while the latest book in Kelly’s popular “Melonhead” series, “Melonhead and the Undercover Operation,” is set, as always, on Capitol Hill.  Brown’s new book, “The Map of Me,” marks her debut as a children’s novelist; her first book, “Soar, Elinor,” is a picture book biography of aviatrix Elinor Smith.

The trio will speak briefly about their books and then take questions from the audience.  Politics and Prose will host the book signing that follows.  The event is recommended for children age five or older.

This event takes place from 7:30 – 9:00 PM at the Takoma Park City Library: 101 Philadelphia Avenue, Takoma Park, MD 2012.
