COMMUNITY: Nominations open for IMPACT Silver Spring’s Momentum Awards


IMPACT Silver Spring, an oganization that builds diverse community networks in the city, will once again present awards to community members who ignite the power of Silver Spring’s diversity through their work. The awards, which have been given annually since 2007, will be re-named this year, and aligned with IMPACT’s indicators for a thriving community: civic life, economic life, and social life.

“We’re calling them the Momentum Awards because we want to honor those who are a part of helping others build “momentum” towards getting on pathways to full empowerment, whether it’s social, economic, or civic,” explains IMPACT Executive Director, Ronnie Galvin.

The awards will recognize achievement in the following categories:

SOCIAL MOMENTUM: Those working in our community to build trust, relationships, a sense of belonging, and mutual support across lines of difference.

CIVIC MOMENTUM: Those attuned to addressing in the public square the challenges faced by our diverse community.

ECONOMIC MOMENTUM: Those who are positively impacting employment, income and/or commerce in ways that tap the power of our community’s diversity.
