PHOTOS: Faithful Catholics walk the Via Crucis

On Friday, April 5, faithful Catholics walked in the footsteps of Jesus as he made his journey to cruxifiction. The Via Crucis or Stations of the Cross was brought to life by members of Cristo Joven, a youth group associated with St. Camillus, as they reenacted 14 steps from Jesus’ condemnation to his placement in the tomb. Over 4,000 congregants followed the passion play as it wended its way from Our Lady of Sorrows on New Hampshire Avenue, through the neighborhood of Takoma-Langley, finishing in the chapel at St. Camillus. At each station, a narrator linked the journey of Christ to contemporary social issues such as domestic violence and hunger.

Below are photographs from stations eight through 14, taken by Eric Bond.
