Milkshake,” an independent film production is now filming in and around town.

The film is a coming of age comedy set in 1990s Takoma Park. Not coincidentally, that’s when and where director and script writer David Andalman came of age.

Andalman used his home town as the subject of a previous film, “Takoma Park,” which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. He recently worked with noted filmmaker Barry Levinson on “The Bay.”

The cast and crew is using locations such as Spring Park, Peter’s Sub Shop on Maple Avenue, and Silver Spring Intermediate School (as its former identity of Blair High School). They are also using 90s vintage cars loaned to them by local residents.

The film will star Shareeka Epps (“Half Nelson”), Tylor Ross (“The Wise Kids”), Georgia Ford, Leo Fitzpatrick (“Kids,” “Storytelling,” and “The Wire”), Danny Burstein (“Follies,” “South Pacific,” “The Drowsy Chaperone”), Eshan Bay, (“House of Cards”) and Anna Friedman (“The Braggart,” “Smile”).

Among the crew now filming at Takoma Park locales is Mariko Munro, the producer.
