PHOTOS: D.C. shows its pride

On Saturday June 9, 2012, the area between Dupont  and Logan Circles came alive with color and music. The 37th annual D.C. Pride Parade made its way through the streets crowded with spectators enjoying the beautiful summer weather.

This year’s Grand Marshal Monte Durham, co-host of TLC’s “Say Yes To The Dress,” received a warm welcome from the crowd of an estimated 250,000 people. So did the many local politicians in DC casting their support to the LGBT community, including Mayor Vincent Gray and D.C. Congressional Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton.

As usual participants wore colorful and flamboyant outfits reflecting the diversity of the community. Indeed, some hardly wore any outfits at all to the amusement of the crowd. The event was as heartwarming as it was festive, with joyful couples walking the parade route hand-in-hand.
