COMMUNITY: Taste the world in Fenton Village

While the redeveloped area of Silver Spring puts ‘feet on the street,” what most makes Silver Spring unique are the individual entrepreneurs who operate the restaurants and other businesses in Fenton Village – downtown Silver Spring below Wayne Avenue. The Taste the World in Fenton Village festival is designed to give area residents a chance to sample some of the many different types of cuisine available in south Silver Spring.

The 3rd Annual Taste the World in Fenton Village festival will take place on Sunday June 2nd beginning at 1 pm with 26 restaurants participating. Everyone is asked to stop first at Parking Lot 3, off Fenton St. between Thayer and Silver Spring Avenues to pick up a ‘passport’ (to be stamped at each stop) and a map that shows the participating restaurants.

Food choices range all across the world, from Ethiopian to Indian and Nepali; from American to Chinese; and from Greek, French, and Italian to West African, Mexican, and Thai. Each restaurant will offer a sample of their cuisine for $2, $3, $4, or $5.There will also be a variety of live music and a raffle at 5:30.

We had a great time at last year’s event and discovered restaurants that I’ve been back to all year, from the terrific Ghar-E-Kabob on Wayne Avenue to the Piratz Tavern (Aaargh!) on Georgia.

The event is organized by the Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board and Silver Spring Town Center, Inc.

See you on Sunday the 2nd!
