COMMUNITY: Takoma Park Independence Day Parade and Fireworks

The theme of the city’s annual festivity is  “Honoring our Past, Building our Future.”

This will be the 124th year the city has held a parade and fireworks display. It is currently an all-volunteer, citizen-run event assisted by city departments. Many streets are closed to traffic, notably the parade staging area in the blocks east of Takoma Junction (intersection of Philadelphia and Carroll Avenues).

The parade features firetrucks, marching bands, drill teams, steel-drum bands, politicians, and quirky local entries of unpredictable nature.
