Tuesday, April 1 at 7:30 pm. moderated by Bill Brown, Managing Editor of Takoma Voice at the Takoma Park Community Center Auditorium, 7500 Maple Avenue. This event will be televised on Takoma Park cable television, live-streamed on the city website, and available online for later viewing.

Meanwhile, the city council is up to their usual antics.

In other words, city council meetings have been as boring as a stick.

There was a underwhelming guest appearance at the March 24th meeting. County council member Cherri Branson dropped in to show how unprepared and unpromising she can be.

Branson was appointed, not elected, to finish out Valerie Erwin’s term as District 5 county representative. Erwin stepped down, to a lot of people’s relief, before her term was up.

The Takoma Park city council welcomed her to their meeting, saying it was refreshing to see our District 5 representative show up to talk to them, Erwin never bothered to. Branson’s clumsy answer was along the lines of, gee, if I’d known that, I wouldn’t have bothered either.

Branson seemed only dimly aware of Takoma Park’s issues, though most council members referred to past discussions with her. So, maybe she’s just an awkward public speaker, but she didn’t seem to have given a lot of thought to tax duplication, Takoma Park’s Big Issue With The County.

The conversation basically went like this.

Council: so, can you help us with tax duplication, money for Flower Avenue renovations, etc?

Branson: not really.

Remember that at election time, Dear Readers. Takoma Park needs a District 5 representative who actually . . . represents us.  Also remember that Your Gilbert warned you about Erwin the first time she ran. This time, PAY ATTENTION when we assess the current candidates.
