PHOTOS: Union prevails again


The 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Fort Stevens was commemorated July 10-13, 2014. with Civil War soldiers’ encampments and military demonstrations,19th century crafts, period music, children’s activities and historic talks. President Abraham Lincoln made a rare personal appearance, returning to the spot he was exposed to Confederate fire. It was the only time a serving American president personally witnessed a battle.

Confederate rebels were also on hand, but they withheld their fire this time.
