On August 15, 2014, according to a Takoma Park Police statement, at approximately 5:48 am, city police and fire departments responded to a fire at the rear of a vacant home at 6505 Kansas Avenue. Fire and Rescue extinguished the blaze, and there were no reported injuries. The house has been vacant about a year and a half, said a neighbor. He added that the owner had been caring for the property.
This is the second vacant home fire in 4 months in Takoma Park’s Ward 3. A May 14th early-morning fire resulted in injuries to firefighters.
