The annual “Mini Fest,” the Folklore Society of Greater Washington’s Midwinter Festival, took place Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Takoma Park Middle School on Piney Branch Ave, Silver Spring, MD.

The event featured dozens of music, song, dance and storytelling performances, demonstrations and workshops involving around 300 performers. The festival offered chanteys, bluegrass music, shape note singing, story-telling, tango, doo wop, English dance, blues, contemporary folk, ballads, bell-ringing, morris and contra dancing, as well as musical-instrument, craft, jewelry and clothing sales, henna and face painting, and food.
