PHOTOS: Cold and snow – with more on the way

Sligo Creek Park is likely to keep its chilly white blanket – as documented in these photos – for a few days.

Below-freezing temperatures and possible snow showers will continue until the weekend, according to the National weather service.

This afternoon (Wed., Feb 18) there is a 70% chance of snow showers starting around 4 p.m. Snow may continue until 10 p.m. with an accumulation of an inch or less. The temperature high will be around 32 F, the low around 9 F.

Thursday is predicted to be sunny but bitterly cold with a high near 15 F and the low as chilly as – 7 F.  There’s a 20% chance of snow showers after 3 p.m.

Friday will likely be similarly cold and sunny with a high near 17 F and  a low around 5 F.

The forecast for Saturday says temperatures will barely rise to a degree over freezing – 33 F – and there’s a 60% chance of snow between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., then snow and sleet likely, possibly mixed with freezing rain, continuing into the evening.

Sunday could get as warm as 47 F. The chance of rain is 70%.
