The Old Takoma Business Association presents its second 4th Street Block Party on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM.

The party will be held on the 6900 block of 4th Street, NW, one block from the Takoma metro. It is a free community event featuring live music, food trucks, and activities for kids.

“We are hosting the 4th Street Block Party to showcase the businesses in our business district and create a community event,” said Laura Barclay, executive director of Old Takoma Business Association.

As newcomers in the community, Spice Suite and Taco-ma want to make people aware of the products their businesses offer.

Taco-ma, located at 353 Cedar St., NW, has tacos, Yucatan chicken, beer, wine, and margaritas. At the block party they will be offering free tours and chicken samples.

The Spice Suite. located at 6904 4th St., NW, is a spice bar and lounge offering seasonal spiced lemonade or tea. The lounge allows patrons to choose from available spice mixes or create their own.

“We had the first block party in June, and it was so successful with about 300 people, we decided to do another one,” said Barclay.

“With a strong business district, we think that everyone benefits by having a vital and active downtown area to go to,” said Barclay.

This event is sponsored by the Old Takoma Business Association, Your Main Street Takoma, and ANC4B with support from Rock Creek Property Group, Takoma Station Tavern and S&S Liquors.
