Saturday October 3rd, local brewery Denizens Brewing Company (1115 East-West Highway in Silver Spring MD) hosted the first ever Make It Funky Wild Beer Fest. This event let beer lovers enjoy limitless samples of over 40 rare, sour and wild beers presented by over 20 breweries. The event was sold out completely, even with Hurricane Joaquin creeping around. No grey sky could damper the spirits at this much anticipated beer tasting.
This unique event celebrated wild beers poured by expert and knowledgeable brewers eager to talk to the crowds about the specific methods and ingredients used to develop these masterpiece craft brews. A sour beer is brewed to have a unusual tart and acidic taste with a multitude of flavors and aromas developed by fermentation with Brettanomyces, Lactobacillus, Pediococcus and Saccharomyces yeast strains.
A live DJ set up shop in the brewery, spinning tunes for party goers as food trucks from Go Fish, Dirty South Deli and more provided nourishment between sips.
