Boss of sharrows

Citizen photo-journalist TJ Mathews snapped these shots on Carroll Avenue in Takoma Old Town Wednesday, November 25.

A work crew was painting “sharrows” on the street surface. Sharrows are markings that tell motorists the road is to be shared with bicyclists. They are used on roads that don’t have enough width for a dedicated bike lane.

“This made my day,” said Mathews. “I’m one of the many bike commuters in TP so it was a joy to see this happening.”

“The crew told me the character on the bench was the Boss,” he said.
