Person posing as mail carrier

Residents on Kansas Ave. reported a man casing homes dressed as a mail carrier. He is described as African American in his 50’s. Perhaps 5’10” and 185 pounds. Slightly graying hair carrying a navy blue US Postal Service back with white and orange reflector on it. Dark (grey/navy/black?) clothing. The time was around 4:30pm.

Residential Burglary

On February 23, 2016, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7200 block of Holly Avenue for the report of a residential burglary. Sometime between February 22 at 3:30 pm and February 23 between 1:30 and 2:00, unknown suspect(s) made entry into the residence by forcing entry through a window and stole property.

On February 24, 2016, at approximately 8:05 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 6600 block of Gude Avenue for the report of a residential burglary. Sometime between 8:30 am and 7:35 pm, unknown suspect(s) made entry into the residence through a window and stole property.

Residential Burglary

On February 24, 2016, at approximately 9:17 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 500 block of Albany Avenue for the report of a residential burglary. Sometime between 5:30 pm and 9:15 pm, unknown suspect(s) made entry into the residence by shattering a deck glass door and stole property.

Quinton Battle Sentenced to 30 Years, Suspending 12, for Armed Carjacking; Other Offenses

John J. McCarthy, State’s Attorney for Montgomery County, announced today that a Circuit Court Judge sentenced Quinton Battle, 20, of Suitland, Maryland, to 30 years with 12 years suspended in the armed robbery and 1st degree burglaries of residents of Takoma Park, Maryland.

The Honorable Judge Steven Salant presided.

Thirty years is the maximum sentence for the carjacking count, 15 years for the robbery and 20 years for the 1st degree burglary counts. The defendant plead guilty to three counts in November.

In making the announcement, McCarthy thanked Assistant State’s Attorneys Sheri Koch and Shawn Andrews for their prosecution of the case. He also thanked the Takoma Park Police for their strong detective work and cooperation with MPD in Washington, D.C.

Theft from Auto; Destruction of Property

On February 26, 2016, at approximately 7:20 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the 6400 block of Sligo Mill Road for the report of a theft from auto and destruction of property.  Unknown suspect(s) broke out the rear side passenger window of the victim’s vehicle and stole property.
