On February 27, 2016, at approximately 6:15 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the 6900 block of Prince Georges Avenue for a report of a stolen auto. The outstanding stolen vehicle is described as a 1990 brown Subaru Legacy, Maryland tag #6463L5. The victim parked his vehicle in his driveway on February 26 at 10:00 pm and discovered it missing on February 27 at 6:00 am.
The outstanding vehicle has been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) stolen vehicle database. Investigation continues under case #16009733.
Theft From Motor Vehicle
Feb 29, 2016, 9:41 p.m., 7400 – 7499 block of 7TH Street, NW, Washington, DC
Attempt Residential Burglary; Trespassing
On March 1, 2016, at approximately 5:41 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7400 block of Cedar Avenue for a report from a citizen that a subject was looking into her living room window on the back side of the residence. When the citizen made it known someone was home, the subject walked out of the yard, making a right on to Dogwood Avenue, and got into a silver, box-style SUV that was parked on Dogwood Avenue facing Cedar Avenue. The subject drove off in an unknown direction. The subject was described as a Hispanic male, 25-30 years old, 5’7 to 5’9, black hair, crew cut on sides, thin athletic build, wide shoulders, last seen wearing a black V-neck sweater with white trim at the collar, possible t-shirt underneath, and carrying a painter’s roller stick.

Arrest for Possession of Firearm; Other Offenses

Chief Alan M. Goldberg from the Takoma Park Police Department announces the arrest of Mohamed Diallo, 22, of Washington, D.C., for Possession of a Firearm, Transporting a Firearm within a Vehicle and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) Marijuana.
On March 2, 2016, at approximately 12:47 am, Takoma Park Police conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle with a suspended registration. Upon making contact with the driver, a strong odor of Marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle incident to arrest yielded a black “Glock 23”//.40 caliber handgun under the front passenger seat where Diallo was sitting.
The driver was identified, charged accordingly and released. Diallo was arrested, charged accordingly and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.

Goldberg from the Takoma Park Police Department announces the March 2, 2016 arrests of Alain Teke Yan Acha, 19, of Lanham, Maryland, and Henok Tesfa Ayana, 20, of Takoma Park, Maryland, for 1st Degree Assault on a Police Officer, Fleeing and Eluding, 1st Degree Burglary, and other offenses.

Arrest for Assault on a Police Officer; Fleeing and Eluding Police; and Possession of “Crack” Cocaine in an Amount Indicative of an Intent to Distribute
Chief Alan M. Goldberg from the Takoma Park Police Department announces the arrest of James Holmes, 48, of Beltsville, Maryland, for Assault on a Police Officer, Fleeing and Eluding Police and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) “Crack” Cocaine in an amount indicative of an intent to distribute.
On March 2, 2016, at approximately 9:38 pm, members of the Takoma Park Police Special Assignment Team (SAT) attempted a traffic stop in the 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Holmes, initially pulled his vehicle over. When an officer approached the vehicle, there was an overwhelming odor of Marijuana emitting from the vehicle. When Holmes was asked to exit the vehicle, he refused to do so several times. An officer opened the driver’s side door to the vehicle requesting that Holmes exit the vehicle, at which point Holmes slammed it shut on the officer’s hand and accelerated his vehicle. The officer’s hand was caught in the vehicle’s door and he was dragged a few feet before he could free his hand. While driving away, the officer observed Holmes throw a white object out the window.
Holmes fled on to University Blvd. where another officer was positioned. Holmes struck that officer’s vehicle, which in turn caused the officer behind Holmes to strike Holmes’ vehicle. After the collisions, Holmes was taken into custody.
Officers returned to the site where Holmes threw the object out the window and retrieved CDS “Crack” Cocaine in an amount indicative of an intent to distribute.
Holmes was arrested, charged accordingly and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
