MAR 18 — At Takoma Park’s request, the closure of a Sligo Creek Parkway section has been rescheduled.
The section between Old Carroll Ave. and Maple Avenue in Takoma Park will be closed March 28, 29 and 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
The closure will now coincide with the county school spring break. As reported in the Voice last week, Mayor Kate Stewart suggested that week would be better than the originally proposed March 21 – 25 because during spring break there would be less traffic and no disruption of school bus routes.

The closed section passes under the Carroll Avenue bridge, which is being prepared for re-construction. The contractor rebuilding the bridge needs the closure to move large materials into place prior to construction. The roadway on top of the bridge will remain open.
A detour will direct automobile traffic up Carroll Avenue to Lincoln and to Maple.
