JUN 10 — Takoma Park streets get jazzy this Sunday, June 12. It’s the annual Jazz Fest in Old Takoma, a popular highlight on the city’s festival calendar.

The event features a mix of local and nationally-known groups on two stages. This year’s theme is “Jazz in the Community,” honoring local jazz musicians and jazz’s role in uniting communities. Attendance to this family-friendly festival is free.

Carroll Avenue from Willow to Tulip Avenues will be closed to motor vehicles. Over fifty food and arts-and-crafts vendors will be offering their wares.

The Willow Stage headliner is the Eastern Standard Time Jazz Quartet, featuring Chris Vadala. The Gazebo Stage headliner will be the Takoma All Stars, including Harry Appelman, David Jernigan, Lex O’Brien, and Ele Rubenstein.

The Takoma Park Jazz Festival is an all-volunteer, charitable organization dedicated to bringing jazz of all sorts to the area. The group also hosts an annual Jazz Brawl in February.
