Denizens turns two

On Saturday July 16 Denizens Brewing Company celebrates it’s second year with a beer garden bash.

Denizens was the first Montgomery County brew-pub established following liquor laws revisions allowing craft-breweries to sell pints to customers and kegs to restaurants. The 2015 opening was covered by the Takoma Voice.

Co-owners Jeff Ramirez, Julie Verratti, Emily Bruno have grown the business, which now features a food menu, more than twice as many beers on tap, small batch brews and canned and bottled beers.

Their celebration starts at 5 p.m. with live outdoor music by DC/Baltimore based rock and roll band Mother’s Oven. There will be beer garden giveaways and craft brews including seasonal summer beers on tap such as a traditional Hefeweizen brewed specifically for the second anniversary. Although the name is not released yet this beer uses Hallertau hops and, say the brewers, is perfect for sipping in the beer garden on a hot summer day or night.

In addition there will be two newly released small batch brews available in the taproom only:

The first of these newly released beers is the Dub Plate Double IPA. It is a west coast style malt with various hop blends defining each release  —about 3 releases over the course of the summer. Hop flavors and aromas will fluctuate in the releases, however alcohol and malt content will remain the same. This first release will showcase Galaxy, Simcoe, Rakau, and Chinook hops.

The second in the line of newly released beers is the Rumble and Roar Double India Red Ale. This ale combines Motueka, Centennial, and Sorachi Ace hops, creating summary notes of mixed berry and lime.

This event is open to the public with no admission or tickets required. Denizens is located at 1115 East-West Highway, Silver Spring, MD
